We regret that the chandelier will not be refurbished, but we believe that the new lighting will be beautiful and significantly contribute to the overall success of our sanctuary's renovations.
The decision was based on the following:
The present light is in poor shape and would require a lot of repairs, even before the rehabbing could start.
There are many unknowns to restoring the present light that could add substantially to the cost.
Once any repairs/modifications are started, it must meet today’s UL standards.
More lighting is required than would be supplied by the one chandelier.
Matching the existing light would be nearly impossible.
Thorough investigation by several knowledgeable Trustees and outside reliable craftsmen have deemed the present chandelier to be questionable as to repairing and/or upgrading.
The Trustees have the responsibility to make sound improvements in the Church property for the benefit of today’s parishioners as well as many years/generations to come. The ‘paying it forward’ attitude is a feature we do not take lightly.
Below are pictures of the new center chandelier and pendant light (of which there will be four).
